Message from our Director: 2017-2018 Season [Read]

April 15, 2018 @ 3PM at Garden Hills Recreation Center [Map]

Adult: $20
Students: $10 (Student ID required)

It’s hard to imagine a better way to complete our season than to feature two string quartets by Beethoven. The Peachtree String Quartet will perform our final program of the 2017 - 2018 season on Sunday, April 15 at 3 p.m. at our home venue, the Garden Hills Recreation Center (next to the Garden Hills Pool).

For this program we have invited ASO “insider” and annotator Ken Meltzer to join us for a brief discussion of these two contrasting string quartets. Beethoven's early and late string quartets vary quite dramatically. His opus 18s clearly show the influence of Haydn while his “late" string quartets move us into a different musical world and style of composition. Join us as we experience the dark musical motive “muss es sein?” (must it be?) which is answered emphatically by “es muss sein!” (it must be!) in the final movement of his great opus 135, the last composition Beethoven ever wrote.
